Porticol 0.1.0

Porticol 0.1.0

The first release. One workbench for the protocols an API team sends by hand: HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, SSE, MQTT 3 and 5, raw TCP and UDP, and SOAP 1.1/1.2; collections, environments and secrets; a runner and a CLI; history with masking; team sync with offline grace; Git sync; monitors; and a desktop and web client over the same commands.

Highlights

  • No account needed to start. The desktop opens, edits and sends on its own machine; signing in to a team server is for sharing, not for working.
  • Secrets stay put. Values are encrypted under a workspace key, held in the OS keychain or a passphrase file, masked in history, and never shown to an agent.
  • Team servers and Cloud are the same code. Run it on your own infrastructure under a licence, or use Porticol Cloud.
  • Agents use the same collections. porticol-cli mcp and POST /api/v1/mcp expose search, read, environments, send, run, history and OpenAPI import through the Model Context Protocol, read-only by default, with protected environments and every call audited.
  • Import what you have. Postman, Insomnia, cURL, HAR, OpenAPI, Porticol JSON, Bruno collections and .http/.rest files.

Performance

Measured with scripts/bench/probe.sh on an Apple M4 Pro, macOS 26.4, from five cold runs: 494 ms to the first interactive window, 107 MB idle RSS, 136 MB with a 5,000-request workspace after a 250 MB response, 29 MB installed. CI fails when a metric leaves its budget (scripts/bench/budget.json).

Notes

  • macOS builds are signed and notarized when the release environment carries the certificate; Windows installers are produced unsigned until a certificate exists.
  • The updater reads signed manifests from the stable channel and carries these notes into the update prompt.

Known limits

  • The Linux desktop needs WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1 under Wayland with an NVIDIA driver; 0.1.0 offers the switch in Settings.
  • SCIM and LDAP provisioning are not offered; SAML and OIDC single sign-on are.
  • The comparison against Postman, Insomnia, Bruno and Yaak is not in this release's data yet; Porticol's own numbers are in site/data/benchmarks.json.
