Account portal
Porticol Cloud's website at https://cloud.porticol.app is the account portal. It
creates accounts, sells plans and runs an organisation's administration, and it holds
no request workbench: requests are sent by the desktop app and by porticol-cli.
The same portal runs on a team server, at its own address. This page says "the portal" for either.
Create an account
Open cloud.porticol.app/sign-up and sign up with an email address, or with Google or GitHub. Confirm the address from the email that arrives, and choose a plan under Billing. Paid plans start with a 14-day trial.
The desktop app needs no account. Sign in from it when you want your collections on more than one computer or shared with a team; see Sync.
What the portal does
| Page | For |
|---|---|
| Billing | The plan, seats, invoices and payment method |
| Usage | Requests, runs and monitor runs this month, against the plan |
| People | Members, invitations, groups and roles |
| Single sign-on | Verified email domains, SAML or OpenID Connect, and the sign-in policy |
| Audit log | Every security-relevant and data-changing action, searchable and exportable |
| Monitors | Collections run on a schedule, their alerts and their uptime |
| Data | Export everything the organisation holds, or delete it |
| Devices | Signed-in devices, with the power to sign one out |
Owners and admins see all of it. A member sees their own account, device and data pages. What a role may do is set under People, and Identity and access describes the roles in full.
What the desktop shows
The desktop app shows the organisation, the plan and the number of seats, and each admin page links to the portal with you already signed in. It does not repeat the forms: changing a plan, inviting a person or reading the audit log happens in the portal.
Shared links
A shared collection opens a portal page that offers Open in Porticol, which opens
the desktop app through its porticol:// address, and a download button for a person
who does not have the app yet.
The team server
A server you run yourself serves the same portal at its own address, with its own accounts and plans. Managed deployment covers the settings an administrator can push to the desktops.
